CTemplar was founded in 2016, headquartered in Iceland, and is a Email Service built around military-grade encryption. The name CTemplar derives from "Cipher Templar," symbolizing an unwavering commitment to user privacy and communication freedom.

CTemplar employs AES-256 and OpenPGP dual-layer encryption: email content is protected by AES-256 symmetric encryption, with keys transmitted via OpenPGP asymmetric encryption. This dual-layer approach ensures that even if intercepted during transit or at rest, attackers cannot decrypt email content. Emails are encrypted in the browser with the recipient's public key before sending. CTemplar supports self-destructing emails — senders can set automatic deletion after a specified time, and read emails are marked as destroyed on the server.
