Overview
Proton Mail was founded in 2014 by CERN scientists Andy Yen, Jason Stockman, and Wei Sun, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. It is the world's leading encrypted Email Service. - Encryption limits search: Due to E2EE, Proton Mail cannot perform server-side full-text search. Search runs entirely on the local client, making it slower than Gmail's and Outlook's server-side indexed search. Similarly, spam filtering relies only on email metadata (sender, subject), not content scanning.
